Scholarship Information

Bulloch Alcohol and Drug Council offers an education scholarship each year to a high school senior who is enrolled at either Georgia Southern University, East Georgia College, or Ogeechee Technical College in memory of long time Chairman, H.W.B. Smith, Jr.  The award is $900 per semester for a total of $1800 per year for qualifying applicants. There is specific criteria that has to be met in order to be considered for this scholarship. Scholarship Criteria

  • Recipients will be full time students at either Georgia Southern University, East Georgia College or Ogeechee Technical College.
  • GSU and East Georgia students may be enrolled in any of the following majors/colleges: The College of Education (Early Childhood K-5; Middle Grades/Secondary Science Education; P-12, Health & Physical Education; Family and Consumer Science Education); The College of Health & Human Sciences (Nursing, Community Health, Food & Nutrition, Child & Family Development, Recreation; Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health, Waters College of health Professions)
  • Eligible undergraduate and graduate students may apply at any time during their course of study.
  • OTC students will be enrolled in the Allied Health Department.
  • Scholarship recipients are expected to maintain a GPA of 2.6 or
    above.
  • Scholarship recipients must reside or work in Bulloch County and be a graduate of a Bulloch County School.
  • Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, books, or other supplies/activities required by the course of study.
  • Applicants who have been active in substance abuse prevention programs during high school and/or who plan to pursue a career in substance abuse prevention education or treatment will be given special consideration.
